alchemia mysteria, the spring/summer 2011 collection from the non continues its minimal, elegant and androgynous storytelling through incredibly detailed and impeccably tailored clothing. designed by tony spackman (who not so long ago designed highly technical and origami-esque gear for nike), the non is wearable, functional and oh so beautiful. spackman quietly coshes down the idea of menswear or womenswear and makes peoplewear. spackman is clearly an advocate of equal rights clothing. although the photographs appear to be of male models, i would wear any/all of the non if i could 1) bear to part with so much money, 2) find it readily available in the united states and 3) had more room in my closet.
perfect garb for a spartan yet creative lifestyle, the pieces are timeless and have details that are unexpected and executed with a deft hand. the designs are so restrained yet the pieces are each grand in their own way, each a sculpture that forms and melds itself to the wearer’s body.
